The Department of International Relations invites you to a public lecture by Dr. Peter M. Haas
“Challenges to Expertise”
Abstract: Governments rely extensively on expertise, and arguably many of the major accomplishments of world politics over the last 50 years reflect the ideas and involvement of experts. Yet expertise in international relations is increasingly contested. What are the factors which have influenced states willingness to defer to experts and expertise, and what is the future of expert governance in world politics?
Peter M. Haas a professor of Political Science at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, working on environmental politics and international relations. Professor Haas received his PhD from the MIT in 1986. He has authored and edited more than 10 books—most recently "Epistemic Communities, Constructivism and International Environmental Politics" (2015).
The public lecture will take place at our Cekmekoy Campus, on May 14th, 2018 (Monday) at Room G15, 12:00 to 13:30 of the Social Science Building (2ndAcademic Building).
