The COHE (the Council of Higher Education)

The academic promotion and appointment process is based on several criteria determined by the Council of Higher Education (COHE). Apart from these criteria differing from one level to another, there are also additional criteria decided by universities. Besides, the COHE conducts various annual evaluations on each higher education institution’s academic performance.


URAP (University Ranking by Academic Performance)

University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP) Research Laboratory is established at Informatics Institute of Middle East Technical University in 2009. URAP, which has developed scientific methods to measure academic success, evaluated top 2000 world universities in its URAP World Ranking and top 76 Turkish universities in its Turkey Ranking according to various academic performance criteria.


THE (Times Higher Education)

Times Higher Education World University Rankings, which first appeared in 2004, publishes each year world’s best universities and offers academic rankings. The evaluations are accomplished regarding teaching and research capacity, global visibility and recognition of relevant universities. Research output to evaluate higher education institutions is collected via Scopus database.
